43rd AGM Board Member Announcement

Singapore Taekwondo Federation is pleased to announce that the 43rd AGM was held on Saturday, 26 September 2020 at 2.00PM with 9 Board members elected by 59 out of 70 voting members.

Of the 9 board members, 5 members are from the last Management Committee.

Mr Koh Choon Seng, David, Mr Lai Han Seng, Mr Lee Thiam Poh, Andy, Mr Lee Yew Jin, Sebastian and Mr Tan Cheng Hui are re-elected into the new board. The four new Board members are Mr Ho Kee Khoon, Michael, Mr Lee Yong Chuan, Edwin, Mr Lim Peng Siah, Johnny and Mr Ng Hwa Ann. A strong and diverse field of 22 nominees stood for election at the 43rd AGM for 9 Board seats. This demonstrates the passion and desire within the fraternity to contribute back to the Federation.

The Board will be co-opting members to serve in the different capacities and sub-committees to continue with the work of the STF. This would allow us to tap on the willing and talented people within the Federation to come together and help to further strengthen the Federation for the betterment of Taekwondo in Singapore.

Since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, the STF Management Committee and the Interim Management Committee (IMC) led by Dr Tan Eng Liang have been working tirelessly to address the impact on our affiliates by decentralizing grading assessments and allowing them to be conducted online. This enables and encourages athletes to compete online, as least for Poomsae competitions, and for eligible coaches and referees, to continue to upgrade their knowledge through international courses conducted by World Taekwondo.

With the uncertainty of the present situation, the new Board’s immediate focus will be for STF to ensure that the livelihood of our coaches is not severely affected and to support the continuing development of our athletes.

In the medium term, the Board intends to focus its effort to develop our athletes in the area for high performance. This will prepare them for upcoming international competitions and major games that hopefully will resume in 2021. The Board also intends to build up a base of athletes to prepare for the World Taekwondo Grand Prix event which would be held in Singapore in 2022.

With the support of our affiliates and stakeholders, we are confident that the STF will be able continue to develop and progress.

Once again, the Board would like to thank all our Affiliates and Authorised Delegate Representatives for your strong support of the 43rd AGM as well as support from representatives from IMC, SNOC and SportSG in joining our AGM as observers. The Board will announce the key office bearers by this week.
