We are pleased to announce that Assisi Children’s Centre will be awarded the Children’s Hospice International Sister Frances Dominica Award for Innovation Program Development.
The innovative program: Taekwondo for Children with Cancer
The program was introduced to the children under the care of Assisi Hospice on 9 November 2006. It is specially designed to add life in the years of the participants and years in their lives.
Unlike the normal taekwondo program, the program for the children includes the development of mental skills. What’s more, different teaching methods are adopted to provide an enjoyable and positive training environment.
Said Ms Ronita Paul, Nurse Manager, who is responsible for program: “The training has boosted the confidence of the participants and made them mentally stronger to face their illness.”
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation congratulates the Assisi Children’s Centre and Ms Ronita for the award.
