New Adviser for STF

The Management Committee, in its monthly meeting on 20 November 2007, unanimously approved the appointment of Professor Tan Cheng Han as the Adviser of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF).

Professor Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1987 and obtained his LLM from the University of Cambridge in 1990. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. He has been a Visiting Professor at PekingUniversity and East China University of Politics and Law, and a Consultant to the John F Kennedy School of Government’s Vietnam Programme.

In 2004, he was appointed Senior Counsel and, in 2006, a Specialist Judge. His other public appointments include being a Vice-President of the Singapore Academy of Law, Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council on the Impact of New Media on Society, a member of the Securities Industry Council, a Commissioner of the Competition Commission of Singapore, a member of the Appeal Advisory Panel to the Minister for Finance, and a member of the Military Court of Appeal.

Professor Tan is also a director of various listed companies and has published many book chapters and articles. In January 2005 he was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of 3 Young Global Leaders from Singapore. In 2006 he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in Singapore’s 41st National Day celebrations.

In his spare time, Professor Tan reads, runs and practices taekwondo.
