Singapore Earns a Place in the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games

Chew Xin Wei did Singapore proud by qualifying for the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Female Under 44kg category.

The Youth Olympic Games Qualification Tournament was held on 20 and 21 March 2014 in Chinese Taipei.

The eight best ranked athletes in each weight category earn a place for their country.

Xin Wei finished amongst the top eight out of 23 competitors in her weight category to secure a ticket for the Games.

Singapore is one of only 39 countries, including Korea and USA, to take at least one qualification place for the taekwondo competition.

Our other athletes, Nur Fadzlyn, Kylynn Goh and Cheong Xuuen, did their best but were unable advance to the qualifying rounds.
