What is the role about?
You will be primarily responsible to develop and train the elite Poomsae athlete/s to achieve podium success at Major Games and International Competitions.

Role Summary
Under the supervision of STF’s High Performance Committee and working closely with the Secretariat and the Coaching Team, the Coach (Poomsae / Freestyle Poomsae) will be responsible in the following areas:

1. To develop and deliver customised individual recognised and freestyle poomsae training plan including training programme for elite Poomsae athlete/s within the first 2 weeks of employment.
2. To track and provide monthly written report of the progress of the elite Poomsae athlete/s to the Coaching Team and STF High Performance Committee.
3. To review the training plan and programme if required, to meet the training goals.
4. To train the elite Poomsae athlete/s in preparation for the various international competitions and to achieve the targets set for the elite Poomsae athlete/s at the various international competitions. Podium finish at 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and Top 8 position at 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
5. To coach the elite Poomsae athlete/s during overseas trainings and competitions.
6. To maintain records of the sessions conducted to the Coaching Team and STF High Performance Committee.
7. To ensure that appropriate supervision, directly or indirectly, is provided to athletes during training.

Qualifications

• Degree with a major in sport science, physical education, sports management/administration or similar qualification in Taekwondo
• World Taekwondo International Coach Certification Level 1 preferred.
• Proven outstanding Freestyle Poomsae technical skills and ability to continue to demonstrate and teach these technical skills e.g. 720/900 degree spinning kick or aerial 3 to 4 consecutive kicks; tumbling skills development
• Experience in choreography of new creative Freestyle Poomsae with music
• Asian Games medalist or equivalent desired
• Proven records of athletes’ achievement at regional/international championships and major Games preferred
• Minimum 3 years of international coaching experience desired

Requirements

Minimum Taekwondo 1st Dan
Should know from Taegeuk 1 to 8 at least

Working Hours

Weekdays 3.00 PM to 7:30 PM
Weekends 9.00 AM to 5.30 PM

Working hours can be discussed during interview

Invitation to all National Poomsae and Kyorugi Referees, The GetActive! Singapore 2024 Pesta Sukan Taekwondo Competition will be held from 31 July to 4 August 2024 at Jurong East Sports Hall.

Calling qualified national Poomsae and Kyorugi referees to sign up as a technical official (Referee) for GETACTIVE! Singapore 2024 Pesta Sukan Taekwondo competition. Interested referees, please submit your application form by 26 July 2023, 12.00noon or earlier. Your
timely submission is much appreciated as this will facilitate planning and communication.

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) organises Annual Open Selection for aspiring athletes to join the Singapore Taekwondo Federation 2025 National Development Squad (NDS).

The information for Open Selection 2025 is as follows:

Date: 4 & 5 January 2025

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be organising an Open Selection for aspiring athletes to participate in the Hong Kong 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.

The Open Selection will only be opened to the Under 40 Division, Under 50 Division, Under 60 Division, Under 65 Division and Over 65 Division for Recognised Poomsae events.
