Withdrawal of Coach Pass

0

Following a complaint against Mr Jason Tan Wei Leong (Ignite Taekwondo), the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF), Management Committee appointed Mr David Koh to head the Board of Inquiry.

The Board met on 12 October 2015 and found that the action of Mr Tan gave the impression that he had physically abused his player in a match during the break between rounds. Although, it could not be established conclusively that he had breached the Coach Code of Conduct, the Board was satisfied that his action did not mirror the conduct of a good coach

The Management Committee endorsed the recommendation of the Board for Mr Tan’s coach pass to be withdrawn for 2 years.

During the period, he may participate in the other activities of the STF.

Advice to Coaches

0

All coaches are advised to be present at the grading venue when their students are taking part in the promotion tests.

Although, coaches are expected to guide their students during the grading, many of them leave their charges to fend for themselves. This is not right.

It does not matter if their students are above or below 21 years old. Coaches must be there for their students as their support can make a difference in the performance of their students. Furthermore, if there are any administrative issues, coaches will be in a better position to resolve the matter than the students.

Most importantly, coaches’ presence will demonstrate that they CARE.
