Sparring Course (Level 2) 17, 18 & 24 September 2016

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be organizing the first Sparring Course (Level 2) on 17, 18 & 24 September 2016 at the STF National Training Centre.

The other details of the course are as follows.

Time             :          Saturday 17 September 2016 – 1.30pm to 4.30pm

                               Sunday 18 August 2016 – 2.30pm to 5.30pm

Test              :          Saturday 24 August 2016 – 1.30pm onwards

Venue           :          Block 80 Lorong Limau

                               #04-191 Singapore 320080

Fees             :          Closing date Tuesday 13 September 2016 – $90.00

                               After closing date – $130.00

Requirement  :          Sparring Course (Level 1) Certification

Dress Code   :          ‘Dobok’

Successful candidates will be exempted from sparring when they go for their 2nd to 3rd poom or dan grading.

2016 National Kyorugi (Ambassador Cup) Tournament Program & Fixtures

The 2016 National Kyorugi (Ambassador Cup) Taekwondo Championshipos will be held on 27 & 28 August 2016 and 3 & 4 September 2016 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The program and fixtures are attached.

Volunteers and referees are to take note of the following reporting time.

(a)  Volunteers (must be at least 13 years & above)

–  Saturday 27 August 2016 & 3 September 2016 – 10.30am

–  Sunday 28 August 2016 & 4 September 2016 – 8.30am

(b)  Referees

–  Saturday 27 August 2016 & 3 September 2016 – 1.00pm

–  Sunday 28 August 2016 & 4 September 2016 – 9.00am


(New referees – please collect the referee T-shirts at the STF office during office hours before competition days.  It will not be issued at the venue.)


The following equipment will be provided by the STF.

–  Headgear (non PSS)

–  Headgear with protective shield (Cadet 1 & Junior 1)

–  PSS headgear, body protector & sensing socks (Senior)

Club officials are reminded that

– all participating team must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman;

–  it is strictly not allowed to employ coaches from other clubs to coach their members during the competitions andfield their athletes under other clubs

–  they must have sufficient coaches to take care of their own athletes during the competition especially when 4 courts are used. Athletes will bedisqualifiedif coaches from their clubs are not available to accompany them to the arena. It will not be acceptable to use the excuse that the athlete’s coach is at another court as the competition cannot be delayed

2016 PA-STF Taekwondo Championships

The People’s Association (PA)-Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Taekwondo Championships will be held on Saturday & Sunday 8 & 9 October 2016 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The competitions promise to be an exciting event for all taekwondo exponents training in the Community Clubs (CCs) recognized by the STF.

If you are training in the CCs which have taekwondo activities conducted by non-STF coaches, we are sorry you have to miss the opportunity to showcase your skills.

STF 40th Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting will be brought forward to Saturday 22 October 2016 at 2.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.

If there is any objection to the postponement, please let us have it by Friday 9 September 2016.

Grading Preparation Workshop (Sunday 11 September 2016)

The workshop is open to red (senior and junior), poom and black belt holders.  Senior Red 1 and black belt holders are reminded that they will be required to recite the STF pledge at the end of the workshop.

The primary objective of the workshop is to point out to participants their performance flaws and the areas they should work on from the examiners’ perspective.  This will give the candidates a better chance of passing.

During the workshop, participants will be briefed on the grading guidelines and the expectations of the examiners.

Coaches may use the information acquired by their students at the workshop as a basis to guide them for their grading.

All candidates who have attended the workshop are reminded to submit a copy of the certificate of participation with their grading applications.

For red (junior) and 1st poom candidates, a copy of the certificate should be attached to their grading cards.  This is necessary for the examiners to give them special consideration, if required.

Kyorugi Referee Course Overall Results (May 2016)

The retest for the Kyorugi Referee Course was held on Saturday 30 July 2016 at the STF National Training Centre.

The overall results are attached.

All successful participants are encouraged to officiate regularly to gain as much experience as possible.

Kyorugi referees who did not attend the seminar will not eligible to officiate in any kyorugi tournaments until the next seminar.

Release of NCAP (Level 2) Results Delayed

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation has decided to release the NCAP (Level 2) results after the National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships so that coaches do not need to upgrade their coach passes which would incur an upgrade fee.

Participants in the course must have their current coach pass validated at the competition venue to enable them to accompany their players into the field of play.

Please report to Ms Theresa Lee at the venue or participants may have their passess validated at the office before the tournament.

Team Manager Briefing & Drawing of Lots for 2016 National Kyorugi

The team manager briefing and drawing of lots for the 2016 National Kyorugi Taekwondo Championships will be held on Sunday 21 August 2016 at 4.00pm at the STF National Training Centre.

The blank fixtures are attached.  The programme will be announced after confirmation of the draws.

Please print a copy of the blank fixtures for the briefing.

Club officials are advised to check the competitors’ names and their events for any mistakes.  They may request to change from the head kick to the non head kick category only for categories with one competitor.  This is to give these competitors an opportunity to compete in the tournament. 

Any amendments or verifications MUST be made before the drawing of lots.  Any request after the draws will NOT be entertained.
