Venues for Poomsae Coach Upgrading and Poomsae Referee Refresher

The venues for the Poomsae Coach Upgrading Course and Poomsae Referee Refresher Seminar are as follows.

–  Poomsae Coach Upgrading Course

   Saturday 11 July 2015 (2.00pm to 6.00pm)

   Temasek Polytechnic

   2nd Floor Sports & Arts Centre

–  Poomsae Referee Refresher Seminar

   Sunday 12 July 2015 (2.00pm to 6.00pm)

   STF National Training Centre

As a large number of participants is expected for both events, registration will begin at 1.00pm.  The events will start at 2.00pm SHARP.

Registration for the course & seminar closes on Wednesday 8 July 2015 at 5.00pm.

2015 PA-STF Taekwondo Championships

The People’s Association (PA)-Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) Taekwondo Championships will be held on Saturday & Sunday 22 & 23 August 2015 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The competitions promise to be an exciting event for all taekwondo exponents training in the Community Clubs (CCs) recognized by the STF.

If you are training in the CCs which have taekwondo activities conducted by non-STF coaches, we are sorry you have to miss the opportunity to showcase your skills.

NCAP (Level 1) Technical Course Overall Results (2015)

The results of the retest for the NCAP Technical (Level 1) Course are attached.

Those participants who are successful are required to complete 3 months (twice a week) or 6 months (once a week) of practical coaching attachment. Trainee coaches can have their choice of schools or clubs approved by the STF for their attachment.

Form A must be returned to the STF at least two (2) weeks before they start their coaching attachment. Attachment without prior approval of STF will not be accepted.

Form B is for trainee coaches to record their attendance. It must be counter-signed by their respective club officials.

The two forms are available in the ‘Forms’ folder.

On receipt of the completed Form B, the STF will issue certificates to coaches only after having satisfied that the coaches have fulfilled their obligations. Practical attachment must be complete within 2 years of the announcement of the results. After that, the results will be considered null and void.

If you have not, registration closes on Wednesday 8 July 2015 for taekwondo.  For this year’s competition, the organizer has restricted participation to SINGAPORE CITIZEN only.

Poomsae Coach and Referee Courses Results (2015)

Practical and practical scoring are considered as one component.

A retest would be held on Saturday 4 July 2015 at 5.30pm at the STF National Training Centre for those who had failed any component.  Unsuccessful participants are advised to read their notes and practise their poomsae to prepare for the retest.

Those who are interested in the retest must call the STF at 6345 1491 by 5.00pm on Thursday 2 July 2015 to register. Payment can be made at the venue before the retest. The fee is $20 per component. On the spot registration for those who have not registered is $30 per component.

Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) for Poom and Black Belt Holders (July 2015)

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation has received several requests by clubs to organize an Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1).

It has decided to conduct the course on 4 & 5 July 2015 at the STF National Training Centre for poom and black belt holders.

The course timings and other details are attached.  Please take note of the registration period and fees.

Head Instructor Suspended

Following the Disciplinary Inquiry on 23 April 2015 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall, the Board of Inquiry under the Chairmanship of Dr Ho Mun Wai, Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) 1st Vice-President, found that Mr Lee Seung Man, Hankuk Taekwondo Academy Chief Instructor had tampered with the Coach Pass for use by one of his coaches during the National Inter-Primary School Taekwondo Championships. 

Mr Lee acknowledged committing the serious misconduct.  For which, he had repeatedly apologized.  

The finding and the recommendation of the Board were presented to the Management Committee on 19 May 2015.  After due consideration of the facts and mitigating circumstances, the Committee suspended Mr Lee for 3 years with effect from the date of the decision from participating in all activities organized or sanctioned by the STF.  

During the period of suspension, Mr Lee was allowed to continue running his school.

2015 SYOF Taekwondo Championships

The 4th Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF 2015) Taekwondo Championships will be held on 1 Aug & 2 Aug 2015 at Woodlands Sports Complex .

Documents pertaining to the competition are attached.

For this year’s competition, please note the following information.

·         The organizers will not accept incomplete submission. Submission after the closing date – that is, 8 July 2015 (Wed) by 1600hrs – will be rejected.

·         Every participating team must provide at one referee for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfill his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman.

·         Each affiliate is allowed to field in only one player per weight category per division for Kyorugi event .And No limt to the number of participants a club can field for the Poomsae event.  Please take note that this year’s competition is open to SINGAPORE CITIZENS only.

·         The eligibility grade for the championships shall be based on April 2015 grading or the player’s last grading before April 2015 if he or she did not take his or her grading in that month.

·         New rules without video replay shall be adopted. This means, among other things, that points will be awarded on a graduated system.

·         Weigh-in shall be conducted on the competition day . During Weigh-in contestant shall wear T-shirt & short. However , weigh-in may be conducted in the nude if the contest wishes to do so (Inside room). There will be only one weigh-in. Players who are over weight or under weight shall be disqualified. A weigh-in machine similar to the one used for the official weigh-in shall be provided for the players to check their weight before they are officially weighed. No weight allowance will be given.

·         Male and female players are required to wear the following equipment on entering the arena: head gear, trunk protector, forearm guard, shin guard groin guard, gloves and mouth piece.
