Our staff was simply trying to assist these club officials by accepting their submissions.  They agreed to submit the registration forms and fees before the closing date.

However, the Secretariat has been facing difficulties in obtaining the forms and payments even after the courses.

Please take note that all registrations must be submitted with the relevant forms and fees at the Secretariat before the closing date.  They must be endorsed by the club.  Submission made by parents or students without the club endorsementwill notbe accepted.  The late fees will be applicable for submission received after the closing date.

Chelsea with her number one supporter, her mum, Mdm Gillian Ho.

She was named Meridian Junior College Sportswoman of the Year 2014 and received the award on 19 July 2014.

Her citation reads as follows.

“As a member of the national taekwondo squad.  Chelsea has shown immense grit in staying committed to rigorous training sessions and the demands of the ‘A; Level curriculum.  Chelsea’s sporting achievements as a member of the college and national teams are awe-inspiring.  She is a most deserving recipient of this award as she has done both the nation and college proud while also displaying enthusiasm towards her studies and doing well for the ‘A’ Level examination.

In 2012 and 2013, Chelsea represented the college in the National ‘A’ Divison Championships, Nanyang Technological University Open Championships and National Poomsae Championships, defending her title as National Champion for all her individual events.  In April 2012, she represented Singapore in the Asian Junior Taekwondo Championships in Vietnam coming in 10th position for her individual event and seventh for her pair event.

In the 11th Asean Taekwondo Championships 2013, Chelsea represented Singapore and despite being the youngest competitor in her category, emerged champion.  She earned a silver forthe individual poomsae in the 27th SEA Games in 2013.  In the Chuncheon Korea Open 2013, Chelsea came in eighth in her pair event.

For her achievements, Chelsea was awarded the National Colours Award and EAGLES Award in 2012 and 2013.  Chelsea also received the Peter Lim Sports Scholarship presented by the Singapore Olympic Foundation and the Professor Tan Teck Meng Sports Scholarship.  Such accolades testify to her drive for excellence and great sportsmanship.

Despite her commitment to national squad training, Chelsea mentored her co-curricular activity teammates by taking a day off her national training to help guide her teammates before the inter-school competition.  She has made the most of her student life by also participating in service-learning events such as Project Festive 2013 and in college events such as the College Road Race, Colosseum and FunFestique.  She has been exemplary in her attitude towards academic challenges and has also show maturity in her interactions with her classmates and teachers.  Her bubbly disposition has made her a joy to be around.  It is no mean feat achieving what Chelsea has attained and she has truly been outstanding.”Congratulations, Chelsea!

Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar (10 August 2014)

0

The annual  Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar will be held on Sunday 10 August 2014 from 9.00am to 1.00pm.

The venue will be announced at a later date.

All active kyorugi referees must attend the seminar to have their licenses to officiate extended by a year.  Coaches who are national referees are also encouraged to participate in the seminar.  The knowledge will be invaluable to them if they wish to continue to be effective coaches.

Kyorugi referees with expired licenses may also attend the seminar.  Their licenses will be renewed if they pass the assessment which will be conducted at the end of the seminar for all participants.

As the provision of referees is a pre-condition for participation in all STF organized or sanctioned tournaments, it is important for clubs to have their own pool of qualified referees.

The seminar will cover, among other things, the latest amendments to the competition rules and regulations.

Participants are to come prepared with their ‘dobok’ and writing materials.   They should be well prepared for the numerous tests which will be conducted to ensure that they are fit mentally and physically to officiate.  They should also be ready to recite the pledges.  Those who fail in any of the tests will have to be retested within a week or so.

We plan to end the seminar punctually.  However, if the overwhelming number of participants does not allow us to do so, they must be prepared for the seminar to end later.

The registration fees are as follows.

–  On or before Wednesday 6 August 2014 – $30.00
–  On the spot registration – $50.00

The registration form is available in the Forms folder.
