1. For Foundation to R2, grading can only be done by qualified Grading Assessors who have successfully completed the Grading Assessor Accreditation Course and have applied for a valid Assessor licence.

2. Submission for the Grading can only be at the STF office during office hours.

3. Please ensure that ALL grading cards are properly completed and duly endorsed. A recent photograph of the candidate must be attached.

4 For ALL candidates who are going for 1st Dan/Poom & above, please have the following documents during submission:

a) Candidate’s grading card

b) 1 recent IC / passport photograph of the candidate

c) Form B (duly completed)

Submission will not be accepted if any of the documents is not available or, for Form B, partially completed.

  1. Submission will not be accepted if candidate fails to produce any of the documents mentioned above.
  1. The last day of submission (Junior Red 1 & above, Senior Red 1 to 3rd Dan) is on 22 SEPTEMBER 2023 (FRIDAY). Any submission after this date will be considered as LATE SUBMISSION.
  1. Late submissions for candidates taking Red 1 & above are to be done within two (2) weeks from 25 September 2023 (Monday). Submission beyond the grace period of two (2) weeks WILL NOT be accepted. An administrative fee will be charged accordingly for late submission within grace period. The charges are as follows

  1. A roll call will be taken at 1.30pm for Red 1 (Senior) candidates going for 1st dan and 2.30pm for 1st dan and higher candidates. Those who miss the roll call will be considered as ABSENT or LATECOMERS. Latecomers will not be graded.
  1. Candidates are to turn up in proper dress code (as stipulated by the STF) for the grading. Candidates who fail to comply with the dress code will not be allowed to take the grading.
  1. Supplementary Grading can only be conducted two (2) weeks before or after the Centralised Grading and will be subjected to the approval of the Grading Department.
  1. While STF will take reasonable measures to ensure the safety of the grading procedure, Candidates will take all reasonable steps to ensure their own safety at all times and will not hold the Federation, the Grading Department or any of its servants, employees or agents responsible for any such injuries, accidents or mishaps that may befall on them during the course of the grading,

SUPPLEMENTARY GRADING

  1. For clubs that wish to conduct supplementary grading for Junior 1st Poom to 4th Poom, a minimum number of 25 candidates is required.
  2. Please register with the STF Secretariat by 2 OCTOBER 2023 (MONDAY).
  3. An examiner will be assigned by the Federation after the closing date.

SENIOR 4TH DAN & ABOVE

  1. The grading for Senior 4th Dan & above will be held on 28 October 2023, Saturday.
  2. For those that are doing feats (senior 5th and 6th Dan), please submit to the grading department via email (stf.grading@gmail.com) on what you are going to perform for your feats before 16 OCTOBER 2023 (MONDAY).
  3. For the thesis component, candidates have to submit their thesis latest by 20 OCTOBER 2023 (FRIDAY). Thesis have to be emailed in to stf.grading@gmail.com
    1. The last day of submission for Senior 4th Dan & above is on 17 OCTOBER 2023.

COLOUR BELTS

  1. The last day of submission for colour belts is on 7 NOVEMBER 2023 (TUESDAY). Any submission after this date will be considered as LATE SUBMISSION.
  2. An administrative fee of SGD 5.00 will be charged for late submission of candidates taking all other grades except Brown 1 & above.

32nd SOUTHEAST ASIAN GAMES (CAMBODIA)

Team Singapore Taekwondo departed on 10 May 2023 for the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held at Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The team was led by Team Manager Mr Lai Han Seng, Kyorugi Coach Mr Ko Jae Pil, and Poomsae Coaches Ms Lee Na Lee and Mr Lee Jun Seong.
Taekwondo for the 32nd SEA Games started with our poomsae team competing on 12 May 2023. Darren Yap put up a strong performance in the Male Freestyle Poomsae event and narrowly missed out on the podium finish by one spot. The Male Team Poomsae consisting of Aloysius yeo, Nicholas Khaw and Ranen Fong put up a strong fight and performed well to clinch the bronze medal. Diyanah Aqidah who competed in the Female Individual event, put up another solid performance and clinched the silver medal in the event. The last event of our team for the day was the Mixed Pair event which Diyanah Aqidah and Ranen Fong performed well to clinch the bronze medal.

Team Singapore Taekwondo poomsae team ended the first day of competitions with the medal haul of 1 silver and 2 bronzes.
Following the Poomsae event, the kyorugi team were up next competing over the next three days from 13 to 15 May 2023. The kyorugi events started with Keston Pang who competed in the Male -54kg. Keston Pang put up a great performance and achieved a bronze medal. Nur Fadzlyn competed in the Female -49kg category and Xavier Tan in the Male -74kg category. Nur Fadzlyn put up a strong fight and performed well to clinch the bronze medal while Xavier Tan put up a valiant performance and put up a strong fight. The kyorugi events ended off with Nichelle Tan who competed in the Gemale -53kg category and Dylan Chia who competed in the Male -63kg category. Both of our Kyorugi athletes put up a strong fight against their opponents and performed their best in their respective category.

Team Singapore Taekwondo Kyorugi team ended the 3 days of Kyorugi events with a medal haul of 2 bronzes.
This brings a total of 1 silver and 4 bronze medals for Team Singapore Taekwondo. STF would like to congratulate the National Team for their outstanding performance and achievement at the 32nd SEA Games and thank you coaches and athletes for flying the Singapore flag high.

On top of that, STF would also like to congratulate Mr Darren Lee for receiving one of the three Best Referee award for Taekwondo. We would also like to thank Mr Michael Ho, Mr Roy Tan and the rest of the international referees for their tireless efforts to ensure the smooth running of SEA Games. We would also like to give special thanks and mention to Mr Eric Li, who accompanied as the team physio for the second year running. Beyond accompanying the team during the last two SEA Games, he also supported the team by visiting the team before the commencement of the SEA Games.

Lastly, the federation would like to extend our gratitude to the Taekwondo fraternity for their unwavering support, SNOC, and SportSG for their leadership and support, and family and friends for their care and concern. We would also like to thank Mr Eric Chua, Senior Parliament for MCCY, Mr Edmund Lim, Assistant Secretary General of SNOC and Mr Antony Lee, Director Projects of SNOC for supporting our athletes at the Games.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for energetic, resilient and self-motivated individuals, who are inspired by the power of sport, to play an active role in contributing to the sport of taekwondo and the fraternity.

What is the role about?

You will be involved in the Singapore Taekwondo Federation’s (STF) exciting period of transformation by working together with colleagues and the Board as One STF team. The STF’s strategic vision and objectives encompass commercial strategies as well as to develop new revenue streams. As a team player, you play a critical role in building sustainable relationships with key stakeholders from both private and public sectors, commercial partners, clubs, peer organisations, the sport fraternity and the community. Operationally, you are required to improve processes regarding the delivery of sport programmes at all levels.

Role Summary

The Operations Executive will be responsible for:

  • Operationalises STF’s strategies and plans in achieving the mission and vision of the organisation, and entails formulation of STF’s strategies and plans in consultation with STF’s Board Committees, goals setting, budgeting, procurement and preparing reports
  • Liaises with partners and stakeholders such as Sport Singapore (SportSG), Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), regional and international sport federation, etc to further the organisation’s goals
  • Assume an active role in the following national initiatives and responsibilities namely in the areas of safeguarding, anti-doping, sport integrity and data protection
  • Practise good governance in ensuring policies and processes are in compliant with legislation and good governance principles, with periodical reviews and updates as required
  • Perform administration/management of STF’s events and activities including publishing of content on STF’s website
  • Ensure quality service to be provided to members, clubs and affiliated associations
  • Provide secretariat support to the Board; and attend to public enquiries

Requirement and Skills

Degree or similar qualification in related area of job responsibilities

Two to three years of working experiences in sport-related environment; keenness in engaging and interacting with multi-stakeholders including public, volunteers, athletes, coaches, sports clubs, public agencies and private entities

Proficient in administration, paperwork as well as Microsoft Office or equivalence

Excellent project management, organising, facilitating and co-ordinating skills

Good communication skills, both oral and written while being IT, media and social media savvy are advantages.

Able to work on some evenings/weekends when required.

SINGAPORE TAEKWONDO FEDERATION (“STF”) ATHLETES COMMISSION ELECTION 2023

  1. Notice is hereby given that the Athletes Commission Election 2023 (“ACE”) of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be held in person on 26 August 2023 (Saturday) at 2.00 pm at the National Training Centre @ 80 Lorong Limau, #04-191, Singapore 320080.
    Under Clause 28 of the STF Constitution, STF established an Athletes Commission (“AC”) with the view to providing a process to promote open communication with the athletes. The AC shall comprise of no more than five (5) elected members, who are either past or present national Taekwondo athletes, including the Chairman who must be a former National Taekwondo athlete. Mr Lawren Poh Tze Chap was appointed as the first AC Chairman in November 2020 and was re-elected as the AC Chairman in October 2022. AC members shall be elected by National athletes who have represented Singapore in International Taekwondo Competitions within the past twenty-four (24) months and should comprise of two (2) Poomsae and two (2) Kyorugi members to ensure representation of athletes in the two (2) disciplines.

48th National Taekwondo Kyorugi Ambassador Championships 2023

The 48th National Taekwondo Kyorugi Ambassador Championships 2023 will be held on 9 & 10 September 2023 (Saturday and Sunday) and 16 & 17 September 2023 (Saturday and Sunday) at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

Documents pertaining to the competition are attached.

For this year’s competition, please note the following information.

• The closing date for this championship is Thursday, 17 August 2023, 1600hrs (4pm). Incomplete submission will be rejected.

• Participating team must provide at least one referee per every 50 participants for the full duration of the championship to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the STF Tournament Sub-Committee Chairman.

• Each affiliate is allowed to field in more than one player per weight category per division.

• The eligibility grade for this championship shall be based on / before 9 August 2023.
• Clubs must produce sufficient coaches to take care of their own athletes during the competition. Athletes must be accompanied by their
coaches to the arena to compete or else the athletes shall be disqualified without the accompaniment of their coaches. There will be four (4) courts and competition will be conducted concurrently. It is unacceptable to cite the athlete’s coach is at another court as the competition have to proceed and cannot be delayed.

• Introduction of Head Kick Category, in addition to the Non-head Kick Category for cadets (Aged 12 to 14) and juniors (Aged 15 to 17) is to provide them the opportunity to optimise their skill development. The cadet and junior participants can choose to participate in either a) Head Kick Category or b) Non-kick Category. Participants must wear headgear with protective face shield to compete in the Head Kick Category.

• Past and / or current national athletes are defined as athletes who have been selected by Singapore Taekwondo Federation to represent the country to compete in international Non-G/G1/G2/G4/G8/G12/G20 Taekwondo Championships. These national athletes will only be allowed to compete in the Open Category.

• Other Dan grade participants are allowed to complete in the Open Category, but they may only choose to participate in one individual category (i.e. only Open Category or Senior Category).

• Non-STF Dan grade certificate holders from STF affiliates (World Taekwondo/Kukkiwon recognised certificates – must be under respective National Sports Association [NSA]) & invited parties are able to participate in the Open Category.
