0

The National Kyorugi Referee Course will be held on 31 March 2012, 1 and 7 April 2012 at the STF National Training Centre.

It is a 12-hour course covering the latest interpretations of the competition rules and regulations.

Blackbelt players are also encouraged to attend the course as it will help them in the understanding of the rules.  The knowledge will stand them in good stead in their preparation for competitions and in the competitions.

All clubs are reminded to have sufficient referees to support their plan to participate in the numerous championships scheduled for 2012 as all participating teams must be represented by a referee each.  Clubs will not be allowed to ‘borrow’ referees from other clubs for any championships.

The details of the course and the registration form are attached.

Please take note of the registration fees and closing date for the course.  Cheques must be crossed and made payable to the “Singapore Taekwondo Federation”.

Dress Code for Participants

0

All Club leaders and coaches are requested to remind their members participating in the activities of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) to observe the dress or uniform code.

If the dress code is casual, we expect the participants to come in at least collared T-shirt (polo shirt), pants and shoes or track suits and sport shoes or collared T-shirt (polo shirt), track pants and sport shoes.  In short, dress in something decent.

Therefore, slippers, sandals, round-neck T-shirt, shorts, jeans will not be acceptable.

If the dress code is ‘dobok’, participants are required to ensure that their uniform conforms to the STF uniform code.

In the recent grading preparation workshop, a few participants failed to observe the STF uniform code.  It has caused difficulties for the participants, their parents and our officials.

The STF will appreciate the co-operation of club leaders and coaches in ensuring that their members are appropriately attired for STF activities.

Better Prepared for the Grading

0

57 participants are better prepared for their next grading after attending the Grading Preparation Workshop held on Sunday 11 March 2012 at the National Training Centre. Why not?

There were 11 examiners, 1 national poomsae trainer and 6 national poomsae squad members were in attendance to guide the participants and correct their mistakes.

The session started with an hour theory session covering, among other things, the examiners’ expectations and the interview questions for the April 2012 grading. The participants were informed what they had to do in poomsae, sparring and unarmed combat (for those going for higher poom or dan grading) and guided on the way they should respond to the various questions.

Mr Milan Kwee, STF President, was present to observe the session. He spoke to some of the parents to get some feedback and thank them for their support.

At the end of the session, Mr Sam Tan, one of the course conductors, gave away the certificates to the participants before they gathered for a group picture.

Passing of WTF President Choue’s Father

0

Mr Milan Kwee, STF President extended the condolences of the taekwondo community in Singapore to Dr Choue Chungwon, President of World Taekwondo Federation, on the demise of his beloved father, Dr Young Seek Choue, on 18 February 2012.

The late Dr Choue was the Founder and Chairman of Kyung Hee University which is one of the top education institutions in Korea known for its international programs.  In 1979 he also founded GCS International, a Non-Government Organization with a consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.  In 1981, as President of the International Association of University Presidents, he proposed the International Day of Peace which was adopted by the UN General Assembly later that year.

The elder Choue was indeed a man who had served humanity nobly and with humility. His death is a loss to the Korean community and the word.

In his message to WTF President, Mr Kwee also said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your bereaved family.”

Mr Kwee will represent STF at the funeral services which will be held on 23 February 2012 at 9.00am at the Grand Peace Palace at Kyung Hee University’s Seoul Campus.
