The Coach Induction Course held on Saturday 10 April 2010 at the National Training Centre attracted 68 coaches.

J H Kim TKD sent the largest number of participants. It had 18 coaches attending the course. MacPherson CC had the next highest number with 10 participants.

The course conducted by Mr Tan Kok Heng saw participants being taught about the philosophy of the Singapore Taekwondo Federation, the responsibilities of coaches and the consequences of acting in a manner that is prejudicial to the good name of coaches.

The following who have successfully completed the course may apply for the coach pass if they have the relevant coach qualifications. They are advised to apply early to avoid having to pay any penalty.

An Unarmed Combat (Level 1) Course will be conducted on 8, 9, 15 and 16 May 2010 for poom belts and black belts. More details and the registration form are attached.

Successful participants in the course will be exempted from the self-defence component required for their 1^st to 2^nd poom or dan promotion.

The certification received from the course will be a prerequisite for taekwondo exponents to move on to Levels 2 and 3.

The STF is pleasantly surprised with the overwhelming response from Kyorugi referees for the refresher seminar which will be held tomorrow, 11 April 2010 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm at the National Training Centre.

In view of the large number of participants, the training time may be extended to 8.00pm.  The additional training time is to ensure that all participants will benefit fully from the seminar.

Participants are requested to make whatever arrangements required so that they could stay through the seminar.

Kyorugi referees are reminded to bring along writing materials for the theory and judging tests.  The dress code for the seminar is dobok.

J H Kim Taekwondo Institute will be hosting a Taekwondo Coaching Course (Level 1) conducted by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation.

The primary objective of the course is to provide basic knowledge of coaching taekwondo skills. On completing the course, participants will be able to organize practice sessions which are safe and challenging for taekwondo athletes.

The new referees may apply for promotion to Class 3 as soon as they chalked up 30 hours of officiating experience in tournaments organized or sanctioned by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation.

All new referees must attend the National Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar which would be held on 11 April 2010 from 2.30pm to 6.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.

Those who failed either component may apply for the retest. The retest will be held on Saturday 10 April 2010 at 5.00pm at the STF National Training Centre.

Please call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 to register for the retest by Thursday 8 April 2010. The fee is $20 per component.

Bukit Purmei Taekwondo Club will be organizing a grading preparation workshop for its members. The details of the workshop are as follows.

All red belt, poom belt and black belt members of the other clubs are welcome to attend the workshop.

The fee is $30 and the registration for participation can be done with Mr Ng Hwa Ann (Grading Chairman) or his assistant, Ms Krist Koh, at Bukit Batok East CC on the day of the course at least 10 minutes before the start of the workshop.

The National Poomsae Referees’ Course will be held on Saturday 17 April 2010 (6.00pm to 10.00pm) and Sunday 18 April 2010 (2.00pm to 10.00pm) and the test will be conducted on Saturday 24 April 2010 (5.00pm).

Clubs preparing for poomsae competitions should ensure that they have the support of poomsae referees. If not, this is the best time for them to have some of their black belts with poomsae coach qualification to qualify themselves as referees.
