The Poomsae Referee Course scheduled to be held this weekend has been postponed to some time in the beginning of next year as the course failed to attract the minimum number required for it to be organized.
Nevertheless, we would like to remind club leaders and coaches that all participating clubs in the poomsae competitions organized by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation after 2009 must provide referees as a pre-condition for participation in the tournaments. These include the National Inter-School which will be staged at the end of April and May 2010.
Therefore, it will be wise for clubs to have a pool of not only qualified poomsae but also kyorugi referees to support them for the competitions they plan to participate.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be organizing the second demonstration workshops for red belts (junior and senior), poom belts and black belts.
The first workshop held in April this year was a resounding success. If you are interested in finding out more about how the workshop went, read the story ‘Hyun Wows’ posted on 4 May 2009 under Courses.
The details of the second workshop are as follows.
Date : Sunday 20 December 2009
Time : 3.00pm to 5.00pm (for junior red belts and poom belts)

The objectives of the workshop are to
provide participants with knowledge of demonstration,
equip them with adequate skills to perform and

During the workshop, participants will experience the thrills of breaking planks with stunts learned from the workshop and learn how to impress spectators with showmanship.
The workshop will be conducted by Lim Hyun, Principal of Hyun Taekwondo Academy and a former member of the Kyung Hee University demonstration team, and Tan Cheng Hui, Chairman of the National Demonstration Team.
Coaches can benefit from their students’ participation in the workshop as they can use the services of the trained students to perform for their clubs when required.
