Announcement on 179th Grading Exercise


179th Grading in January 2021

For Seniors (above 15 years of age and above)

The grading will be assessed on the 31st January 2021. The last day for video submission will be 24th January 2021. Criteria for grading will remain the same as the 178th. (Up to 2nd going to 3rd Dan only).

All videos for senior red 1 and above (Up to 2nd going to 3rd Dan only) must be pre-recorded and email to stf.grading@gmail.com by the 24th January 2021.  

Closing date for registration will be on 14th January 2021 by the clubs for the Senior Grading.

For Foundation and Colour belts

Foundation up to Red 2 will be graded by their respective club’s 4th Dan coaches.


All videos for Red 1 going to poom belts and above and “double promotions” recommendations must be pre-recorded and email to colournpoom.grading@gmail.com by the 21st February 2021.

All payments and the grading cards for the 179 grading must be submitted by the 5 Mar 2021 or late payment fees will be imposed.

Important note for all video/s submission:

  1. All videos MUST be in MP4 format.
  2. The file name and candidate name MUST be the same as that of the registered person for easy identification.
  3. All the videos taken must be in one file. You can take the videos at different time but it has to be edited / linked together as ONE file. This will help to facilitate and hasten the grading process by examiners.
  4. The video will have to be in the proper grading procedure. ie : Compulsory pattern, optional pattern(s), basic kick, followed by one round of 1 minute shadow sparring.
  5. For the PPassgoing for confirmation, coaches will have to indicate the comments from previous grading and which portion/s of the grading process needs to be confirmed. 
  6. DO NOT send multiple emails with the videos to the different emails as that would only clog up the emails. You will receive a reply once your email/video is received and the videos are in order.

  • Work Days:
    On part-time basis, working hours should usually be around 6pm to 9pm on weekdays or 12pm to 9pm on the weekends.

Congratulations to Mr Ng Keng Boon, Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM)

We are pleased to announce that Mr Ng Keng Boon, was awarded the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM), (The Public Service Medal) by Her Excellency, the President of the Republic of Singapore on the occasion of Singapore’s 55th National Day 2020.
Mr Ng Keng Boon is an active coach at our Affiliate, PAP Leng Kee Taekwondo since 1992.

Over and above his busy schedule as Deputy Director at Singapore University of Technology and Design, heading the SUTD Academy, Mr Ng have proven that it is possible to pursue his passion as a Taekwondo practitioner and be a role model to the many Taekwondo aspirants under his training schools, and at the same time; contribute to the community and volunteer his time at the West Coast Grassroots Organisations.

Mr Ng’s PBM award reflects the many talents within our Taekwondo fraternity and their willingness to serve the community.
We congratulate Keng Boon on his PBM award and as role model to the Taekwondo fraternity.

Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards 2020 – Mr Mok You Qiang, Ivan

We are pleased to announce that Mr Mok You Qiang, Ivan was one of the 16 awardees at the Goh Chok Tong Enable Awards (GCTEA) at an award ceremony at the Istana on Thursday, 3 December 2020. The GCTEA celebrates the achievements and promise of exceptional people with disabilities.

Ivan is our 35-year-old Taekwondo Coach with hearing impairment. He has participated in multiple national championships and also represented Singapore in the Deaflympics in 2009. He has been inspiring the next generation of martial arts practitioners since switching to full-time coaching in 2008.

We congratulate Ivan for his indomitable spirit and exemplification of the discipline, perseverance and hard work to all of us in the Taekwondo fraternity.

World Taekwondo Online Coaches and Referees Courses

Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) would like to invite members to apply for the courses listed below conducted by World Taekwondo:

STF reserves the right to select the most suitable participants in consultation with the Interim Management Committee (IMC), especially if there is overwhelming response and limited country-quota.

Applicants must also be recommended by their head of affiliate and will additionally be assessed based on their past, present and future contributions to the development of Taekwondo in Singapore.

Please note that besides paying for the course fees, successful applicants will also need to apply for and pay for their Global Management System (GMS) annual licence. Besides attaching the relevant qualifications, records and contributions, please also complete and include the STF registration form (http://stf.sg/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/form-Registration-311020.pdf) and the and the WT GMS Application /Renewal Agreement as attached. Worthy applicants may request for sponsorship.
