The primary objectives of the Poomsae Coach Course are to qualify black belts as poomsae coaches and provide them the passport to become a full-fledged national poomsae referee.

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be conducting a series of selection trials to identify promising athletes to participate in the national squad training to prepare for championships in 2021 and 2022. All affiliates are invited to nominate their athletes to participate at the first of these selection trial for both Kyorugi and Poomsae events.

Athletes who are selected at the Open Selection Trials on 6 March and 7 March 2021 shall be invited as members of the Development Squad.
A final selection exercise may be conducted for each individual championship nearer to the actual competition from within members of the Development Squad.
STF reserves the right not to send athletes for these competitions due to athletes’ performances or safety reasons.
Due to the Covid-2019 situation, the selection trials will be split across two days (Technical and Physical). Furthermore, the selection trials will be split into different sessions per day based on the number of athletes registering for the trial.
OPEN SELECTION TRIAL EVENT OUTLINE
Technical Component Trial: Saturday, 6 March 2021
Kyorugi:
Trial session: 8.30AM to 12.30PM
Weigh-in : To be done at the start of the session.
Age Groups : 12 to 14 years old (Cadet) 15 to 17 years old (Junior) 18 years & above (Senior)
Assessment :Performance of sparring against selected opponents
Attire : STF approved Dobok Equipment : KPNP or Daedo head gear and chest protector.
Athletes have to bring their own personal equipment which can include foot protectors.
For equipment provided by STF during the trial, we will sanitize and clean the equipment after each use. For foot protector, please bring your own due to hygiene purposes and to minimize sharing of equipment.
Poomsae:
Trial session: 1.00PM to 4.00PM
Age Groups: a. Below 12 years old (Development) – Taegeuk 4 to Keumgang b. 12 to 14 years old (Cadet) – Taegeuk 4 to Keumgang c. 15 to 17 years old (Junior) – Taegeuk 4 to Taebaek d. 18 to Under 40 years old – Taegeuk 6 to Shipjin e. 40 to Under 50 years old – Taegeuk 8 to Chonkwon f. 50 and above – Koryo to Hansu

National Kyorugi referees will be considered for promotion based on their taekwondo qualifications, performance, and officiating experience.
The promotion criteria are as follow:
3rd Class Provisional:
Minimum 1st Dan,
Participants will be awarded Class 3 (P) upon successful completed and passed the National Kyorugi Referee Course conducted by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF).
3rd Class:
Held the 3rd Class (Provisional) National Kyorugi Referee qualification.
Officiated in minimum one (1) Nationals or National Inter-school and four (4) sanctioned tournaments.
Valid Kyorugi Referee Licence.
Approved by the Board of Referees.
2nd Class:
Minimum 2nd Dan
Held the 3rd Class National Kyorugi Referee qualification for at least two (2) years.
Officiated in the capacity of a 3rd Class Referee in minimum two (2) Nationals or National Inter- School and six (6) sanctioned tournaments.
Valid Kyorugi Referee Licence.
Approved by the Board of Referees.
1st Class:
Minimum 3rd Dan
Held the 2nd Class National Kyorugi Referee qualification for at least three (3) years.
Officiated in the capacity of a 2nd Class Referee in minimum four (4) Nationals or National Inter- School and six (6) sanctioned tournaments.
Valid Kyorugi Referee Licence.
Approved by the Board of Referees.
S Class:
Minimum 4th Dan
Held the 1st Class National Kyorugi Referee qualification for at least four (4) years.
Officiated in minimum of six (6) Nationals or National Inter-School and six (6) from STF sanctioned tournaments.
Held the appointment of Chief Referee (CR) or Deputy Chief Referee (DCR) in at least four (4) STF sanctioned tournaments.
Valid Referee Licence.
Recommended by the Board of Referees.
Approved by the Technical Standing Committee.
* NOTE: The referee must clocked in at least 75% of the entire duration of the tournament to be eligible as a consideration for promotion. (For example, if the tournament duration is 10 hours, a referee must clock at least 7.5 hours in order for the hours to be taken into consideration for promotion.)
On meeting the minimum requirements, a national referee may submit his/her application for promotion on the prescribed form, available at the STF’s office.
International Referee (IR):
A S Class National Referee who fulfils the following requirements will be considered for the International Referee Course organised by the World Taekwondo (WT):
Minimum Kukkiwon 4th Dan holder / Kukkiwon 1st Dan holder (for Female)
Recommended by the Board of Referees.
Endorsed by the Technical Standing Committee
Approved by Singapore Taekwondo Federation Board (STF Board)
Upon approval by the STF Board, the S Class National Referee will have to apply and successfully complete the WT Online Referee Training Programme
The STF Board will decide on the number of qualified national referees for each International Referee Course and will consult the Board of Referees on the selection of suitable candidates for the course. The STF Board will give priority to candidates who meet the requirements as stated above. However, in the event where all candidates meet the criteria and the number of candidates exceeds the vacancies decided by the STF Board, selection will then be based upon candidates’ seniority in taekwondo.
