Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course Retest Date

The Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course retest will be held on Sunday 26 August 2018 at 2.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.

The results for the test held on Friday 3 August 2018 will be released within 2 weeks.

STF Patron Conferred with Kukkiwon Honorary 6th Dan Black Belt

STF Patron Kris Wiluan, who is also the President of the Asean Taekwondo Federation (ATF), was conferred with the Honorary 6th Dan Black Belt by Kukkiwon President Oh Hyun Deuk on Thursday 2 August 2018 at Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters.

Mr Wiluan has been the ATF President for more than 30 years and was a former WT Council Member and Executive Council Member of Taekwondo Indonesia.  His contributions to the development of taekwondo in Asean and the rest of the world is commendable.  The taekwondo community in the Asean region looks forward to his continued dedication to the sport.

The award ceremony was witnessed by Kukkiwon Chairman Hong Sung Chon and Mrs Elizabeth Wiluan.

On behalf of the taekwondo community in Singapore, we congratulate the accolade received by Mr Wiluan.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. Submission for the Grading can only be at the STF office during office hours.
  1. Please ensure that ALL grading cards are properly completed and duly endorsed. A recent photograph of the candidate must be attached.
  1. For ALL candidates who are going for Red 1 & above, please have the following documents during submission:

a) Candidate’s grading card
b) 1 photocopy of the candidate’s Identity Card (front & back) / Birth Certificate (for candidate below age of 12)
c) 2 recent IC / passport photographs of the candidate
d) Form B (duly completed)

Submission will not be accepted if any of the documents is not available or, for Form B, partially completed.

  1. The last day of submission is on 17 SEPT 2018 (MONDAY) . Any submission after this date will be considered as LATE SUBMISSION.
  1. Late submissions for candidates taking Red 1 & above are to be done within two (2) weeks from 18 Sept 2018 (Tuesday). Submission beyond the grace period of two (2) weeks WILL NOT be accepted. An administrative fee will be charged accordingly for late submission. The charges are as follows:

50% of the grading fee payable by candidates for their respective grades.
  1. An administrative fee of SGD 5.00 will be charged for late submission of candidates taking all other grades except Brown 1 & above.
  1. A roll call will be taken at 1.30pm for Red 1 (Senior) candidates going for 1st dan and 2.30pm for 1st dan and higher candidates. Those who miss the roll call will be considered as ABSENT or LATECOMERS. Latecomers will not be graded.
  1. Candidates are to turn up in proper dress code (as stipulated by the STF) for the grading. Candidates who fail to comply with the dress code will not be allowed to take the grading.
  1. Supplementary Grading can only be conducted two (2) weeks before or after the Centralised Grading and will be subjected to the approval of the Grading Department.
  1. Candidates will be taking the grading at their own risk and therefore will not hold the Federation, the Grading Department or anyone so concerned, responsible for any injuries, accidents or mishaps that may befall on them during the course of the grading.

Unarmed Combat Course (Level 2) for Poom and Black Belt Holders (August 2018)

The Unarmed Combat Course (Level 2) will be held on 18, 19, 25 & 26 August 2018 at the STF National Training Centre.

2018 SNG Taekwondo Championships Start Lists

The 2018 Singapore National Games Taekwondo Championships would be held on 4 & 5 August 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

All volunteers who are assisting in the setting up of the venue are to report to Mr Andy Lee (Tournament Head) on Friday 3 August 2018 at 10.00am.

The reporting time for referees are as follows.

Poomsae referees – 9.00am

2018 PA-STF Program & Start List

The program and start list for the 2018 PA-STF Taekwondo Championships, which will be held on 21 & 22 July 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall, are attached.

Club officials are reminded that only coaches with passes are allowed to enter the field of play with their players.

Male and female players are required to wear the following equipment on entering the arena: head gear (blue or red only), trunk protector, forearm guard, shin guard, groin guard, gloves and mouth piece. KPNP PSS will be used for all categories.  Headgear with face shield (Blue or Red only) or E- Headgear, Trunk protector, E-Socks, Groin guard, Forearm guard, Shin guard, Gloves and Mouthpiece ( option for headgear with face shield ) will be provided.

Volunteers  and referees are to report to Mr Andy Lee (Tournament Chairman) on the following days and times.

21 July 18 (Sat) – 1.00pm to 7.30pm – Poomsae (reporting time for FOP set up – 8.30am)

Engaging the Community on High Performance

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) would be organizing focus group discussions on Friday 27 July 2018 from 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the STF National Training Centre to engage the community and stakeholders who are prepared to give constructive feedback and ideas on improving the high performance.

The 2 discussion sessions are as follows.

Session 1

7:00pm-8:30pm

Proposed participants: Current members of the National Squad/National Development Squad, their parents and coaches.

Session 2

8:30pm-10:00pm

Proposed participants: MC members (past and present), examiners, international referees, national referees, affiliate Leaders, ex-members of the National Squad/National Development Squad.

Interested participants may register with the STF at 6345 1491 by Monday 23 July 2018.

While participants must understand that not every feedback and idea can be practically implemented, the STF will try to gather the best workable ideas from our collective wisdom to forge the best way forward.

2018 PA-STF Championships Blank Fixtures

The briefing and drawing of lots for the 2018 PA-STF Taekwondo Championships will be held on Sunday 15 July 2018 at 6.30pm at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall (after the centralized grading).

The blank fixtures are attached.

Club officials are advised to check the competitors’ names and their events for any mistakes.  Any amendments must be made before the drawing of lots.  No changes will be allowed after the draws.

Registration Time for Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course and Test

Participants who have registered for the Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course are to take note of the following registration time.

Refresher Course (Saturday 14 July 2018, Toa Payoh Sports Hall)

Registration will start at 5.00pm.  The course will commence at 6.00pm sharp.  

Theory & Practical Tests (Friday 3 August 2018, Toa Payoh Sports Hall)

Registration will start at 6.00pm.  The theory test will commence at 7.00pm sharp.

Participants who reported 30 minutes late or after for any of the above will be considered as absent.

2018 SYOF Program & Start List

The 2018 Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships will be held on 7 & 8 July 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The program and start list are attached.

Please note the following information again.

  • The organizers will not accept incomplete submissions. Submissions after the closing date – that is, 14 June 2018 (Thu) by 1600hrs – will be rejected.
  • Participating teams must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee need not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman.
  • Each affiliate is allowed to field in more than one player per weight category per division for Kyorugi event. There is no limit to the number of participants a club can field for the Poomsae event.
  • The eligibility grade for the championships shall be based on or before 14 June 2018.
  • Weigh-in shall be conducted on the competition day. During Weigh-in contestants shall wear T-shirt & short. However, weigh-in may be conducted in the nude if the contest wishes to do so (Inside room). There will be only one weigh-in. Players who are over weight or under weight shall be disqualified. A weigh-in machine similar to the one used for the official weigh-in shall be provided for the players to check their weight before they are officially weighed. No weight allowance will be given.
  • Male and female players are required to wear the following equipment upon entering the arena: head gear, trunk protector, forearm guard, shin guard groin guard, gloves and mouth piece.
  • Regarding the use of PSS, PSS equipment will be issue to the contestants
  • Doctor’s clearance will be required for those with pre-existing medical conditions
  • Introduce head kicks for Cadets (12 to 14) and Youths (15 to 17) to provide them the opportunity to optimize their skill development.There will be two categories for the two divisions – that is Cadet and Youth players can participate in either the non head kick or head kick category. For the head kick category, players will be required to wear headgear with protective face shield.
  • Additional categories: Young (9, 10 and 11 years old). No head kicks for these categories.
