Engaging the Community on High Performance

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) would be organizing focus group discussions on Friday 27 July 2018 from 7.00pm to 10.00pm at the STF National Training Centre to engage the community and stakeholders who are prepared to give constructive feedback and ideas on improving the high performance.

The 2 discussion sessions are as follows.

Session 1

7:00pm-8:30pm

Proposed participants: Current members of the National Squad/National Development Squad, their parents and coaches.

Session 2

8:30pm-10:00pm

Proposed participants: MC members (past and present), examiners, international referees, national referees, affiliate Leaders, ex-members of the National Squad/National Development Squad.

Interested participants may register with the STF at 6345 1491 by Monday 23 July 2018.

While participants must understand that not every feedback and idea can be practically implemented, the STF will try to gather the best workable ideas from our collective wisdom to forge the best way forward.

2018 PA-STF Championships Blank Fixtures

The briefing and drawing of lots for the 2018 PA-STF Taekwondo Championships will be held on Sunday 15 July 2018 at 6.30pm at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall (after the centralized grading).

The blank fixtures are attached.

Club officials are advised to check the competitors’ names and their events for any mistakes.  Any amendments must be made before the drawing of lots.  No changes will be allowed after the draws.

Registration Time for Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course and Test

Participants who have registered for the Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course are to take note of the following registration time.

Refresher Course (Saturday 14 July 2018, Toa Payoh Sports Hall)

Registration will start at 5.00pm.  The course will commence at 6.00pm sharp.  

Theory & Practical Tests (Friday 3 August 2018, Toa Payoh Sports Hall)

Registration will start at 6.00pm.  The theory test will commence at 7.00pm sharp.

Participants who reported 30 minutes late or after for any of the above will be considered as absent.

2018 SYOF Program & Start List

The 2018 Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships will be held on 7 & 8 July 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The program and start list are attached.

Please note the following information again.

  • The organizers will not accept incomplete submissions. Submissions after the closing date – that is, 14 June 2018 (Thu) by 1600hrs – will be rejected.
  • Participating teams must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee need not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman.
  • Each affiliate is allowed to field in more than one player per weight category per division for Kyorugi event. There is no limit to the number of participants a club can field for the Poomsae event.
  • The eligibility grade for the championships shall be based on or before 14 June 2018.
  • Weigh-in shall be conducted on the competition day. During Weigh-in contestants shall wear T-shirt & short. However, weigh-in may be conducted in the nude if the contest wishes to do so (Inside room). There will be only one weigh-in. Players who are over weight or under weight shall be disqualified. A weigh-in machine similar to the one used for the official weigh-in shall be provided for the players to check their weight before they are officially weighed. No weight allowance will be given.
  • Male and female players are required to wear the following equipment upon entering the arena: head gear, trunk protector, forearm guard, shin guard groin guard, gloves and mouth piece.
  • Regarding the use of PSS, PSS equipment will be issue to the contestants
  • Doctor’s clearance will be required for those with pre-existing medical conditions
  • Introduce head kicks for Cadets (12 to 14) and Youths (15 to 17) to provide them the opportunity to optimize their skill development.There will be two categories for the two divisions – that is Cadet and Youth players can participate in either the non head kick or head kick category. For the head kick category, players will be required to wear headgear with protective face shield.
  • Additional categories: Young (9, 10 and 11 years old). No head kicks for these categories.

2018 Ambassador Cup National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships

The (2018 Ambassador Cup) 45th National Taekwondo Kyorugi Championships will be on 15 & 16 September 2018 (Saturday & Sunday) and 22 & 23 September 2018 (Saturday & Sunday) at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

Documents pertaining to the competition are attached.

For this year’s competition, please note the following information.

  • The organizers will not accept incomplete submission. Submission after the closing date – that is, 8 August 2018 (Wednesday)  after 1600 hours – will be rejected.
  • Participating team must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation.  The referee may not be the same person.  For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day.  A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfill his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman. 
  • Each affiliate is allowed to field in more than one player per weight category per division.
  • The eligibility grade for the national championships shall be based on April 2018, second quarter grading season or the player’s last grading before April 2018 if he or she did not take his or her grading in that month.
  • Strictly not allowed to employ coaches from other clubs to coach their members during the competitions and. field their athletes under other clubs
  • Clubs must produce sufficient coaches to take care of their own athletes during the competition especially when 4 courts are used. Athletes will bedisqualified if coaches from their clubs are not available to accompany them to the arena. It will not be acceptable to use the excuse that the athlete’s coach is at another court as the competition cannot be delayed
  • Introduce head kicks for cadets (12 to 14) and juniors (15 to 17) to provide them the opportunity to optimize their skill development.There will be two categories for the two divisions – that is cadet and junior players can participate in either the head kick or non-kick category.  For the head kick category, players will be required to wear headgear with protective face shield.

2018 SYOF Drawing of Lots & Blank Fixtures

The draws for the 2018 SYOF Taekwondo Championships will be held on Sunday 1 July 2018 at 2.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.

Participating affiliates are advised to send at least one representative for the session.

Coach Induction Course (Friday 22 June 2018)

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) will be conducting an induction course which will be held on Friday 22 June 2018 at 9.30am at the STF Secretariat on the request of some affiliates.

This course is only open to coaches who are applying for the coach pass for the first time.

The course fee is $85.60. Interested coaches must call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 by Thursday 4.00pm to register.  Late fee will be applicable on the spot registration.

Invitation to 2018 SYOF Opening Ceremony

All affiliated club leaders, coaches and their members are cordially invited to witness the opening of this year’s Singapore Youth Olympic Festival on Saturday 7 July 2018 at 10.30am at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

Your attendance will lend support and add to the celebratory mood of the opening of the event.  It is important for taekwondo members to be there because the opening ceremony is organized by the Singapore Taekwondo Federation.  It will be followed by the SYOF taekwondo tournament which is well subscribed.

The Guest of Honor for the event is Mr Ng Ser Miang, Executive Member of International Olympic Committee and Honorary Chairman of Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters).

Change of Test Date for Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course

The annual Kyorugi Referee Refresher Course will be held on Saturday 14 July 2018 from 6.00pm to 10.00pm at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

Participants are to take note that the test date has been changed to Friday 3 August 2018 from 7.00pm at Toa Payoh Sports Hall. The following tests will be conducted.

–  Theory

–  Practical (including scoring)

Those who fail in any of the tests will have to be retested within a week or so.  Only referees who have successfully completed the course will have their licence renewed for one year.

Competition will take place on 4 & 5 August 2018 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall and we want YOU to be part of the Games.

Technical Official (Referee)

Qualified referees who are keen to sign up as Technical Officials (Referee) for Singapore National Games 2018 may submit your application form via email to fong_yee_min@sport.gov.sg by 4.00pm on Tuesday 3 July 2018. Late submission will not be entertained.

Sport Specialist Volunteer

You can also join the event as part of Team Nila undertaking the role of a Sport Specialist Volunteer, assisting in the field of play areas and be directly involved in the running of the competition during Games Times.
