It is Taking Shape

After many months of seeking approval from the authorities including Urban Redevelopment Authority and Building and Construction Authority, the Singapore Taekwondo Federation (STF) is pleased to announce that work is now in progress for the development of its premises at 35 Joo Chiat Place.

Design Archcrylic Pte Ltd was appointed as a consultant for the project through a selection process by the Management Committee.  Following which a tender was called and it attracted 11 interested contractors.  Based on price and experience, Jim Builders Pte Ltd was picked.

On 23 June 2017, the STF received the final approval from URA.  Immediately after that, the conservation, addition and alteration of the place started.

The latest report: demolition and piling had been completed and the contractor is working on the structure of the building.

Members can expect to see a spanking new STF office come June 2018 if not earlier.

Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) For Poom & Black Belt Holders (September 2017)

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be conducting the Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) on 23, 24 & 30 September 2017 at the STF National Training Centre for poom and black belt holders.

The course timings and other details are attached.  Please take note of the registration period and fees.

KPNP E-Socks Available for Purchase

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation has received numerous enquiries on the purchase of the KPNP e-socks.

They will be on sale at Toa Payoh Sports Hall during the Ambassdor Cup on Saturday & Sunday 2 & 3 September 2017 at a special rate of $130 only on the two days of competition.

The workshop is open to red (senior and junior), poom and black belt holders.  Senior Red 1 and black belt holders are reminded that they will be required to recite the STF pledge at the end of the workshop.

The primary objective of the workshop is to point out to participants their performance flaws and the areas they should work on from the examiners’ perspective.  This will give the candidates a better chance of passing.

During the workshop, participants will be briefed on the grading guidelines and the expectations of the examiners.

Coaches may use the information acquired by their students at the workshop as a basis to guide them for their grading.

All candidates who have attended the workshop are reminded to submit a copy of the certificate of participation with their grading applications.

For red (junior) and 1st poom candidates, a copy of the certificate should be attached to their grading cards.  This is necessary for the examiners to give them special consideration, if required.

Sparring Course (Level 1) 9 & 10 September 2017

The Sparring Course (Level 1) will be held on Saturday & Sunday 9 & 10 September 2017 at the STF National Training Centre.

2017 Ambassador Cup Program & Fixtures

The 2017 National Kyorugi (Ambassador Cup) Taekwondo Championshipos will be held on 26 & 27 August 2017 and 2 & 3 September 2017 at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

The program and fixtures are attached.

Volunteers and referees are to take note of the following reporting time.

(a)  Volunteers (must be at least 13 years & above)

–  Saturday 26 August 2017 & 2 September 2017 – 8.00am

–  Sunday 27 August 2017 & 3 September 2017 – 8.00am

(b)  Referees

–  Saturday 26 August 2017 & 2 September 2017 – 12.30pm

–  Sunday 27 August 2017 & 3 September 2017 – 8.30am

(New referees – please collect the referee T-shirts at the STF office during office hours before competition days.  It will not be issued at the venue.)

The following equipment will be provided by the STF.

–  Headgear with protective shield (Cadet 1 & Junior 1)

–  PSS headgear, body protector & sensing socks (Senior)

Headgear (non-PSS) will not be provided.

Club officials are reminded that

– all participating team must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman;

–  it is strictly not allowed to employ coaches from other clubs to coach their members during the competitions andfield their athletes under other clubs

–  they must have sufficient coaches to take care of their own athletes during the competition especially when 4 courts are used. Athletes will bedisqualifiedif coaches from their clubs are not available to accompany them to the arena. It will not be acceptable to use the excuse that the athlete’s coach is at another court as the competition cannot be delayed

Important Information for 2017 Ambassador Cup

For 2017 Ambassador Cup, KP&P PSS will be used.  The STF will provide KP&P head (for events where head kick is allowed) and body PSS in addition to KP&P e-foot protectors.

As the e-foot protectors will be damaged if they are roughly handled or worn wrongly, we are providing the following guide for the use of the equipment.

All coaches are responsible for damaged e-socks issued to their athletes.  Therefore, the STF encourages them to read the guide carefully and help their athletes in the wearing of the equipment.

Temporary Access into FOP for NCAP (Level 2) Participants

As the results for the NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course have yet to be released, participants for the course will be granted temporary access into the Field of Play (FOP) for the Ambassador Cup which would be held on 26 & 27 August 2017 and 2 & 3 September 2017.

Please bring your current coach pass to the STF office between Monday 21 August 20107 to Friday 25 August 2017 from 10.00am to 4.00pm (lunch time: 1.00pm to 2.00pm) to have it temporary accreditated.  No accreditation will be given at the competition venue.

Kyorugi Referee Course & Referee Refresher Seminar Results

The results for the Kyorugi Referee Course and Kyorugi Referee Refresher Seminar are attached.

Participants for both course and seminar are to take note of the following.

Kyorugi Referee Course

All participants must attend a theory test review which will be held on Saturday 19 August 2017 at 2.00pm at the STF National Training Centre.  The retest for practical & scoring will be conducted after the review.

The theory review fee is $21.40 (inclusive of GST).  The retest fee for unsuccessful participants in practicial & scoring (including theory review) is $32.10 (inclusive of GST).  All payment must be made either at the STF office or at the venue.

Participants with *Pending results must attend the theory review.  Otherwise they would be considered as unsuccessful in the course.

Kyorugi Refresher Seminar

The retest for practical & scoring will be held on Saturday 19 August 2017 at 3.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.
