Mr. Jean Claude Niringiyimana, from Rwanda was nominated as Allianz Athlete of the month of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
It is the first time that a Para Taekwondo athlete was nominated for Allianz Athlete of IPC.
Niringiyimana upset the world elite in his first ever international Para taekwondo tournament when he clinched the silver in the men’s under 61kg K44 at the African Para Taekwondo Open.
The Singapore Taekwondo Federation encourages all affiliates and their members to support the candidate.
Our players gave credible performances at the following 2 international competitions which saw them finishing top in some of their events.

In the ASEAN Championships, Ng Ming Wei clinched the silver medal in the Men Under 54kg, losing narrowly to his Vietnamese opponent. The team came back with 1 silver and 8 bronze medals. The team also won the overall 2nd runner-up trophies in the Poomsae Junior & Senior Divisions.
After the outing in Perlis, the team was on full swing and outdid themselves by winning 7 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.

The results for the NCAP (Level 1) Technical Course held at J H Kim Bukit Timah in February/March 2017 are attached.
Those participants who are successful are required to complete 3 months (twice a week) or 6 months (once a week) of practical coaching attachment. Trainee coaches can have their choice of schools or clubs approved by the STF for their attachment.
Form A must be returned to the STF at least two (2) weeks before they start their coaching attachment. Attachment without prior approval of STF will not be accepted.
Form B is for trainee coaches to record their attendance. It must be counter-signed by their respective club officials.
The two forms are available in the ‘Forms’ folder.
On receipt of the completed Form B, the STF will issue certificates to coaches only after having satisfied that the coaches have fulfilled their obligations. Practical attachment must be complete within 2 years of the announcement of the results. After that, the results will be considered null and void.
Please read the following important notes pertaining to the retest.
A retest will be conducted on Monday 15 May 2017 at the J H Kim Bukit Timah for those who fail either the theory, practical or both components or pledge. Theory retest will begin at 7.00pm followed by practical at 8.00pm.
Those who are interested must register for the retest by Tuesday 9 May 2017. Candidates must call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 to register and payment may be made at the venue before the retest. The registration fee is $20 per component. However, on the spot registration for the retest is $30 per component.
Candidates for the practical retest are required to bring along a new lesson plan.
Result pending resubmission of lesson plan must be made by Monday 15 May 2017 at the STF office. The lesson plan may be posted to the Coaching Chairman, Singapore Taekwondo Federation, 260A Tanjong Katong Road Singapore 437048.
Participants are advised to read their notes to prepare for the theory retest.
Club officials and coaches are advised to take note of the following changes and inclusion in the competition outline of the Nattional Poomsae Championships.
– The grades will be based on the highest grade obtained on or before January 2017 – the first quarter grading season.
– The first and second poomsae for 1st Poom / 2nd Poom & higher / 1st Dan / 2nd Dan & higher divisions have been revised (please refer to Page 6 of the Information Sheet).
– The team events have been re-categorized into 6 divisons (please refer to Page 6 of the Information Sheet).

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation believes that with these changes, it would encourage more participation from your members.
Tasks The successful job applicant will lead and coach RP students to further their skills and passion in Taekwondo.
Responsibilities • Provide coaching expertise to the sports team in preparation for identified competitions, and bring on improved performance and excellent results • Plan, organise and implement suitable training and conditioning programmes for the development of the sports team. • Conduct at least 2 hours training session, 2 – 3 times a week • Ensure safety during trainings • Provide all-rounded development of student athletes, and instill good values and character
Requirements • Minimum 4th Dan grade awarded by Singapore Taekwondo Federation • Recognised qualifications by Sport Singapore (minimum NCAP Level 1 / SG-Coach Level 1 or equivalent) • Registered with the National Registry of Coaches (NROC) • Valid Standard First Aid Certification (including AED) • Strong Coaching Ethics and Commitment • At least 5 years’ experience in coaching Institutes of Higher Learning (IHL) • Able to work and interact well with youth
The 11st National Taekwondo Poomsae Championships will be held on 3, 4, 10 & 11 June 2017 at Jurong East Sports Hall.

All participating team must provide at least one referee per every 30 participants for the duration of the championships to qualify for participation. The referee may not be the same person. For example, it is acceptable for a club to submit four referees, one each for every competition day. A club will be barred from future participation if its referee fails to fulfil his or her obligations without the approval of the Tournament Chairman.
J H Kim Taekwondo Institute (Bukit Timah) is looking for instructors who are interested to work full-time or part-time in their schools at Bukit Timah, Sembawang or Woodlands.
Competitive remuneration is assured but will depend on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
Applicants must possess a Singapore Taekwondo Federation black belt certification and will have an advantage if they possess any/all of the following.
The results for the Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) held on 11, 12 & 18 March 2017 at the STF National Training Centre are attached.
Retest for unsuccessful participants will be held on Saturday 29 April 2017 at 1.30pm The fee is $20. On the sport registration for those those who have not registered is $30 per component.
Those who are interested in the retest must call the STF Secretariat at 6345 1491 by 5.00pm on Monday 24 April 2017 to register. Payment may be made at the venue before the retest.
