UNARMED COMBAT COURSE (LEVEL 1) FOR POOM AND BLACK BELT HOLDERS (APRIL 2019)

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be conducting the Unarmed Combat Course (Level 1) on 27 & 28 April 2019 and 4 May 2019 at the STF National Training Centre for poom and black belt holders.

The course timings and other details are attached.  Please take note of the registration period and fees.

Officiating Opportunities for National Referees in Malaysia

Organizers of the 13th edition of the CK Classic International Open Taekwondo Championships which will be held on 13 & 14 July 2019 in Stadium Malawati, Shah Alam, Selangor, are looking for national referees to officiate at the tournament.

National referees who are interested to officiate in the tournament may send in their application to stkdf@mail.com by Monday 8 April 2019.

More details will be provided for the selected referees upon appointment.

Selection Trials for 2019 Asean Championships

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be conducting open selection trials for the 2019 Asean Taekwondo Championships which will be held on 4 & 5 May 2019 in Manila, Philippines.

All affiliates are invited to participate in the open trials for both Kyorugi and Poomsae events.

The selection details are as follows.

Time               :           Poomsae 

                                  Trial          –           12.00pm

                                 *Poomsae  –  Taegeuk 4 to Sipjin (15-17, 18-30 & 31-40)

                                                     (*2 poomsae will be selected at random according to the age division)
                                 *Freestyle – Individual Male & Female / Mixed Team (18-30 only)


                                  Kyorugi

                                  Weigh-in          –           11.00am

                                   Trial                 –           12.30pm

                                   Age Groups      –           12 to 14 years old (Cadet )

                                                                      15 to 17 years old (Junior)

                                                                      18 years & above (Senior)

All participants must be SINGAPORE CITIZENS and are STF poom or black belt holders

Please fill in the attached forms and submit them to the Secretariat by Monday 25 March 2019.  There is no limit to the number of players each affiliate can field.  We reserve the right not to accept late submission, incomplete forms or registration without the necessary supporting documents.

Registered players for the trials are to report at the STF National Training Centre by 11.00am. Kyorugi players shall be considered for the category based on their actual weight on the day of the weigh-in and not according to the weight submitted in the form as we do not want to disqualify any players.  No weight allowance will be given. 

The panel of selectors will comprise any 3 of the following senior technical members. 

–       Mr Steven Soh 

–       Mr RA Jeyaraman 

–       Mr Lee Thiam Poh 

–       Mr Tan Kok Heng

–       Mr Tan Cheng Hui

The player’s undertaking form is also attached.  The form must be signed by parents for players under the age of 21 years old.  Players will not be allowed to participate in the trials if they do not comply with the administrative requirements. Players with medical history must provide medical clearance from their doctor.

The trials would be open for observation by participants and the registered accompanying coaches (must be Level 2 qualified) only.   Please note that no photography and video recording will be allowed.

2019 Nestle Koko Krunch Overall Results

The 2019 Nestle Koko Krunch Junior Taekwondo Championships were sucessfully held on 9 & 10 March 2019 at Jurong East Sports Hall.

The Regional Grand Champion title was captured by Acme Taekwondo.

Our sincere thanks to Nestle Koko Krunch for their continued support of the event which had seen the increase of participation by more than double since the first competition held in 2013.

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation would also like to thank all club officials, parents and volunteers for making the event a successful one.

The overall results are attached.

Poomsae Coach Course Retest Results (January 2019)

The retest results of the Poomsae Coach Course held on Sunday 24 February 2019 are attached.

Participants who have not attended the retest will have another opportunity to do so on Monday 18 March 2019 at 7.30pm at the STF National Training Centre.  The fee is $53.50.  Those who have failed the retest may attend a review which will be conducted at the same time.  The review fee is $10.70.

Those who are interested must register for the retest/review by Friday 15 March 2019. Candidates must call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 to register and payment may be made at the venue before the retest/review.

Sharing Session with Singapore Sports School

More than 20 parents and their children, who are training at the National Training Centre, attended a sharing session by Ms Serena Wong, General Manager (Individual Programme) from the Singapore Sports School on Saturday 2 March 2019 at 11.30am at the STF National Training Centre.

Ms Wong shared with them the programmes offered by the school for aspiring athletes. It was followed by a Q&A session. The parents were full of enthusiasm, asking various questions pertaining to the school programme, activities and supports for their children.

11-year-old Torres was so excited after the session that he couldn’t wait to enrol at the Sports School after his PSLE.

DARE Program to Create Awareness

Professionals from the National Heart Centre conducted a DARE Program for 60 TEAMgOLD members, national squad trainees and parents on Sunday 20 January 2019 from 10am to 11am at the STF National Training Centre.

They were taught how to respond if they witnessed a cardiac arrest, guide through a step-by-step instruction on how to co-operate with the 995 dispatcher, perform CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). A 20 minute hands-on practice (chest compression only) was also conducted with facilitators.

NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course (April 2019)

The NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course will be held on 6, 7, 20 & 21 April 2019 at the STF National Training Centre.

We wish to remind all coaches that the NCAP (Level 2) Technical will be a requirement for all local coaches who wish to coach at national-level competitions, namely the National School Games, National International School Championships, National Kyorugi Championships and Singapore National Games.

We encourage coaches to upgrade themselves for the benefits of their students.

If you have not achieved your Level 2 qualification, this will be your chance to do so before the school Championships which will begin on Monday 8 April 2019.  Coaches who attend this course may apply for temporary access into the field of play.

The NCAP (Level 1) retest results will be released within a week.  Successful participants may register for the Level 2 course.  They will only receive the Level 2 qualification if they have successfully completed the course and Level 1 practical attachment.

Poomsae Referee Course (March 2019)

The Poomsae Referee Course will be held on 30 & 31 March 2019 at the STF National Training Centre.

Black belt holders who wished to officiate in all STF-sanctioned poomsae tournaments should take this opportunity to gain the qualification as the next course may be held in 2019.

The detailed information is as follows.

(Recitation of the STF pledge is part of the test component.)

Candidates who have passed both the theory and practical test will be required to complete the practical assessment.

Eligibility :Poomsae Coach Certification

(The STF reserves the right to request proof from a medical practitioner) 
Certification:Candidates will be awarded Class 3 (Provisional) certification upon completion of at least 15 hours of practical assessment at the National School Games (at least 2 days of competition).   Any candidates who have officiated more than 24 hours in the school events will be awarded Class 3 certification.
