ITE College East Looking for Coaches

ITE College East is in the process of looking for coaches for the ITE College  east ( TKD ) team.

Below is the lists of responsibilities, qualifications and requirements for the prospective coach. 

Responsibilities :

1.     The Instructor shall be exemplary in conduct and role model desired behaviour at all times. 

2.      Prepare and coach students for competition and during competition eg. POL – ITE 

3       To assist the team manager / teacher in charge  to prepare the selected students for Polite Tournament (if any).

4.      Must be able to coach and officiate at BOTH  Poomsae and Kyorugi at the POL-ITE (Polytechnic games/  tournaments)  

5.      Must be able to coach BOTH Poomsae and Kyorugi during training. 

6.     The Coaches/Instructors/Trainers must be of good character. ITE may request for proof of this. ITE may also request for replacement when necessary.

The qualifications and requirements are as follows.

1.        Must have at least NCAP (National Coaching Accreditation Programme) Level 1 Coaching Certificate or equivalent eg. NROC (National Registry of Coaches)  in relevant fields

2.        Must possess at least a 1st Dan certification from the Singapore TKD Federation.

3.        Must possess NCAP level 2 Technical.

4.        Must have Poomsae Coach Level 2.

5.        Must possess a valid First Aid certification during the stated contract period. 

6         Must have prior coaching experiences with post-secondary students. 

7.        Previous experience coaching in ITE is preferred.

Selection Trials for 2018 Asian Cities Tourney

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be conducting open selection trials for the 2018 Asian Cities Taekwondo Championships which will be held on 17 & 18 March 2018 in Hong Kong.

All affiliates are invited to participate in the open trials for both Kyorugi and Poomsae events.

The selection details are as follows.

All participants must be SINGAPORE CITIZENS and are STF poom or black belt holdersThe WT Global Athlete Licence and Kukkiwon certification are mandatory for all players.

Please fill in the attached forms and submit them to the Secretariat by Monday 15 January 2018.  There is no limit to the number of players each affiliate can field.  We reserve the right not to accept late submission, incomplete forms or registration without the necessary supporting documents. 

Registered players for the trials are to report at the STF National Training Centre by 12.00pm.Kyorugi players shall be considered for the category based on their actual weight on the day of the weigh-in and not according to the weight submitted in the form as we do not want to disqualify any players.  No weight allowance will be given. 

Selected players will be required to fulfill the training requirements averaging 12 hours per week

The panel of selectors will comprise any 3 of the following senior technical members. 

–       Mr Steven Soh 

–       Mr RA Jeyaraman 

–       Mr Lee Thiam Poh 

–       Mr Tan Kok Heng

–       Mr Tan Cheng Hui

The player’s undertaking form is also attached.  The form must be signed by parents for players under the age of 21 years old.  Players will not be allowed to participate in the trials if they do not comply with the administrative requirements. Players with medical history must provide medical clearance from their doctor.

The trials would be open for observation by participants and the registered accompanying coaches (must be Level 2 qualified) only.   Please note that no photography and video recording will be allowed.

NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course Results (Feb/Mar 2017)

The results for the NCAP (Level 2) Technical Course are attached.

Please take note of the following.

– Theory

The retest will be held on Saturday 20 January 2018 at 11.30am at the STF National Training Centre.


Those who are interested in the retest must call the STF Secretariat at 6345 1491 by 5.00pm on Monday 15 January 2018 to register.  Payment may be made at the venue before the retest.

– Practical

Presentation and YPI are both under the practical component.  Unsuccessful participants are to contact the testers directly to arrange for their retest – Mr Lai Han Seng (presentation) at hanseng@tkd-singapore.com and Mr Leon Koh (YPI) at coachleonkoh@gmail.com by Monday 15 January 2018/

The retest fee is $21.40 for one component and $32.10 for both components. However, on the spot registration for the retest is $32.10 per component.

Those who have successfully completed the course may apply for an upgrade of their coach pass.  Coaches will not be allowed to accompany their students into the competition area if they do not upgrade their pass.

National Kyorugi Referee Course (February 2018)

The next National Kyorugi Referee Course will be held on 3, 4 & 10 February 2018 at the STF National Training Centre

Blackbelt players are also encouraged to attend the course as it will help them in the understanding of the rules.  The knowledge will stand them in good stead in their preparation for competitions and in the competitions.

2018 National School Games Taekwondo Championships

The National School Games Taekwondo Championships (Primary, A B & C Divisions) will be held as follows at Toa Payoh Sports Hall.

–  Primary Divisions (Poomsae ) – Wednesday & Thursday 11 & 12 April 2018

–  Primary Divisions (Kyorugi) – Thursday & Friday 12 & 13 April 2018

–  B & C Divisions (Poomsae) – Monday & Tuesday 16 & 17 April 2018

All registrations must be made online through the students’ schools during the eregistration period till 8 March 2018 (Primary Schools) and 12 March 2018 (A, B & C Divisions).  No submission, except for the Mixed Team events, will be accepted at the STF Secretariat.

Coaches are advised to use the hard copy forms attached to the Outlines for collation of data from athletes and submit to the school’s teacher-in-charge to facilitate the smooth flow of registering their students.

Sparring Course (Fundamental) Sunday 28 January 2018

The Singapore Taekwondo Federation will be organizing a Sparring Course (Fundamental) on Sunday 28 January 2018 from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.  Candidates going for their Red 1 to 1st poom or dan will be exempted from sparring if they have the fundamental certification.

On successful completion of the course, participants with a minimum NCAP (Level 1) Technical or Poomsae Coach (Level 1P) qualification may apply for the appropriate passes to accompany players to the competition area depending on the level of their pass.

NCAP (Level 1) Technical Course Results (Nov 2017)

The results of the NCAP Technical (Level 1) Course held on 4, 5, 11, 12 & 25 2017 at the STF National Training Centre are attached.

Those participants who are successful are required to complete 3 months (twice a week) or 6 months (once a week) of practical coaching attachment. Trainee coaches can have their choice of schools or clubs approved by the STF for their attachment.

Form A must be returned to the STF at least two (2) weeks before they start their coaching attachment. Attachment without prior approval of STF will not be accepted.

Form B is for trainee coaches to record their attendance. It must be counter-signed by their respective club officials.

The two forms are available in the ‘Forms’ folder.

On receipt of the completed Form B, the STF will issue certificates to coaches only after having satisfied that the coaches have fulfilled their obligations. Practical attachment must be complete within 2 years of the announcement of the results. After that, the results will be considered null and void.

Please read the following important notes pertaining to the retest.

A retest will be conducted on Saturday 6 January 2018 at the STF National Training Centre for those who fail either the theory, practical or both components or pledge.  Theory retest will begin at 12.30pm followed by practical at 1.30pm.

  • Those who are interested must register for the retest by Thursday 4 January 2018. Candidates must call the Secretariat at 6345 1491 to register and payment may be made at the venue before the retest. The registration fee is $21.40 for one component and $32.10 for both components. However, on the spot registration for the retest is $32.10 per component.
  • Candidates for the practical retest are required to bring along a new lesson plan.
  • Result pending resubmission of lesson plan must be made by Friday 5 January 2018 at the STF office. The lesson plan may be posted to the Coaching Chairman, Singapore Taekwondo Federation, 260A Tanjong Katong Road Singapore 437048 or submit on Saturday 6 January 2018 at the NTC.
  • Participants are advised to read their notes to prepare for the theory retest.
